Who we are

West Spring Studio was developed as a place where over twenty years of work, comprising of independent clients and work with other firms, comes together to focus on the successful integration of historical precedent with modern technologies. West Spring Studio takes influences from a lifetime of exposure to history and architecture, while making relevant design that incorporates the specific needs of today's lifestyle.

While growing up in a 1909 four-square house on West Spring Street in Tennessee, Heather was introduced to the daily adventures and challenges of home renovations while watching her father tackle numerous ongoing projects in his free time. Prior to being purchased by the Mangrum family, the home functioned not only as a family residence, but also as a funeral home. The varied use of the house, combined with her mother's love of history and architecture, provided the introduction to concepts that would carry over throughout multiple aspects of Heather’s career. Most importantly, is the belief that a home should not feel like, or be treated as, a museum. Nothing is viewed as being so precious that it hinders the house from functioning in the most optimal way for the owner’s comfort and use.

West Spring Studio believes a client-focused design process is the key to a successful project, and is the approach taken with each new opportunity.
